Where am i going and what should i do?

I have been playing piano for about a year with lessons, they were fun, but i moved and got a new teacher who tells me my old teacher taught me it wrong, so i have to learn all over again…
Honsetly, my father dosent want that bcz well im not like super serious about piano, i do it for fun+pleasure. not bcz i want to major in music or play for church or anything.
I would love to continue doing piano but my father is seeing about me to stop playing piano bcz he says i need a goal or something to work towards. (to get better at).
What should i do? Quit lessons? What kind of goal could i have?
Also where can i find some free sheet music online? Maybe i could try doing some of that by myself.?
Help me please.

In this article, I will discuss keyboard features that are not essential but can ease the learning process and operation of your keyboard.

The first feature you might find useful is the use of memory buttons. These normally range from four memory buttons to eight buttons, in your price range. The memory button remembers the complete set up of the keyboard, which might include the sound you are using plus the rhythm and speed and volumes of each part. This is especially useful if you have spent hours setting up your keyboard and you want to save your settings. There’s nothing worse than trying to find that perfect setting again, when you could have saved it.

Also some keyboards will have a floppy drive which can save the entire settings of the keyboard including memory buttons just in case there is a power cut or your memory buttons get wiped, again not essential, but useful.

The next feature is reverb. This setting on a keyboard can dramatically transform the sound of any instrument sound on your keyboard. An example of natural reverb can be found in a church or a large hall or an underground cavern. If you have visited any of these places then you know the sound created is echo like. Of course, it is very difficult to describe the sound difference when adding reverb but again this is another advantage to visiting a music shop where you can actually listen to the keyboard sounds.

The difference between reverb and no reverb is quite dramatic. If you haven’t heard the difference it is unlikely you will miss it but be warned once you have heard the difference between reverb and no reverb you will want reverb on your keyboard.

The next feature to look for is a recording facility. Recorders are built in to keyboard, they don’t use tape, they use memory chips to record actions made on a keyboard such as playing a piece of music. These recorders are referred to as music sequencers and can create very complex almost orchestral pieces of music although the features on a sequencer at your price range will be limited.

As a beginner you will not get a lot of use from this feature however, it can be used as a teaching aid, for example a teacher can play a section of music in to the sequencer and the pupil can then listen and practice the sequence of music as many times as is needed. If this feature is pushing your budget, then I would say you don’t need it. The choice is yours.

Finally, most keyboards made today have two or three “MIDI” connections; these can normally be found on the back of the keyboard and look like five pin din sockets and are marked up as MIDI In, MIDI Out and MIDI Through. MIDI stands for “musical instrument digital interface” As a beginner you will not use these connections. These connections enable your keyboard to play and be played by other keyboards. They can also connect to a computer and music can be played and created using MIDI and computer programs.

MIDI is a complex subject and if you wish to learn more about this subject, you can search the internet where you will find lots of information about MIDI. So if your keyboard does not have MIDI connections, its does not matter, if your keyboard does have MIDI connections it still doesn’t matter.

what i use is 4shared.com. just go to the website enter the songs you want to download, click search and there you go. MUSIC to download! Sometimes 4shared doesn’t have all the songs you want….so if that happens you can just try by going to google.com and put in the search bar “download -song- by -artist- mp3″ there should be some that you’ll be able to download.

once you download the song:
Right click the song
Scroll down to OPEN WITH…
Then click OPEN WITH
(a box or sometype window that will give you options to open the song such as Itunes, Windows media player, etc.)
Since you have itunes, click Itunes and it should be able to play it on your itunes

Who owns the copyright in this situation?

My cousin made a song for church and she wants me to arrange it for her. She composed the lyrics and the tune to them, and I am writing the musical score and guitar chords for it as well as the musical introduction and ending. Who would own the copyright? How would our names appear on the sheet music?

It’s a little hard to tell from the information here. My instinct is to say that the copyright is hers, because as soon as she wrote down or recorded the basic song, she owned the copyright to it. You’ve contributed, but haven’t fundamentally changed the basic work, from what you’ve said.

You’ve definitely contributed though, and based on that, you should work out an agreement to share any future royalties, maybe 65/35 in her favor, or whatever you both feel is amicable.

The credit is whatever you agree upon.

It’s your birthday.  It’s late afternoon and the sun is on its way down.  Nothing is happening at the moment because you’re sitting down in the company of friends trying to entertain yourself hoping someone would make a suggestion like, “Hey, let’s do something!”  Just as you’ve had enough of doing nothing, a group of friends surprise you from the rear, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!”  What a treat….you hug each one… then out the blue, one of them decides to sing a special song just for you on your special day….

Your eyes and everyone else’s eyes are looking at each other questioning, “Why is this person with this unattractive voice singing NOW or EVER in his life?!  We were nice.  We survived it.  Nobody died but, boy, it would have been nicer if that person could have sung that special rendition two days earlier before anyone could have had the chance to hear it.

Do you think you would continue to sing if you knew everyone else did not think as highly favorable of your singing voice as you do?

The “everyone else” category includes:

      1.) Empathic persons – those people who will want to give support of your singing just because you’re just another human being

      2.) Relatives – they like the thought of someone in the family who not only sings but also becomes famous by their singing  [so they can borrow money from you when you become rich ] “and it might just happen if we cheer him on strong enough…”

      3.) Friends – those acquaintances that will give an opinion of your singing voice that you would hopefully flatter you; even if it were not fully the truth.  They want your friendship.

      4.) Associates – those whom you have some sort of business relation and will not express any negative feelings concerning your singing voice so that they won’t jeopardize any personal future benefit you might offer them

      5.) Church members – wonderful people but their spirituality may interfere with their honest judgment concerning your singing voice

      6.) Nice, unknowing people – they may or may not speak the truth to you about your singing voice since they have no investment in you not to mention that they may not know what they’re talking about

So who or what can you trust?

Answer:  Unbiased, vocal music professional instruction.  Someone who’s had the training and experience.  A  professional voice teacher with solid teaching experience. You want to entrust your singing voice, your time, your financial resources to a learned, well trained singing voice teacher that can explain step-by-step how you can maximize your singing voice ability without hurting it.

When you find the right singing instruction, you and others will hear and become impressed with the consistent improvement of your singing voice.

To try to teach yourself how to sing and be successful is tricky and usually frustrating. It can be very discouraging to fail to make the strides with your singing voice you knew you could if you had the proper singing voice instructor.
