Should Christians listen to Christian music or is it ok to lisen to rock, country, rap, popular music?
Or does it matter. Until about 2 years ago I used to only listen to stuff like Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Dokken, Ratt, Led Zepplin, Aerosmith and such. I have a bunch of heavy metal CDs just collecting dust now. I keep my stereo in my truck on Christian radio and I am buying only Christian artist now. Listening to that heavy metal stuff never made me want to kill anybody or worship the devil but I do admit there is something about those songs that make you think differently. When you constantly pump music about getting drunk, doing drugs, sex, violence, rebelion it has some effect on you. You may not think it does but try straying away from worldy (secular) music for a while and then listen to it. Now when I hear rock, country, rap and other popular music it seems strange to me. It think “Wow this is a bad image being pumped out there”. Now I like stuff like Jeremy Camp, Chris Tomlin, 3rd Day, and stuff like that on Christian stations. What are you thoughts?

secular music makes you feel all emo about yourself, makes you want to fulfill your own desires.
secular music is about ME MYSELF AND I, while Christian music is about ME unto GOD.
though its true that some secular music does not insult God, but secular music glorifies self, rather than glorifiy God
there is a difference.
i stopped listening to secular music too, and i feel that i have been set free from some kind of emotional bondage.
so now i listen to worship music unto God like hillsong, christomlin, etc. its freedom music!
